Brief History

The Wellington Region 2020 Communications Trust (Wellington ICT) was set up in 2002 after its predecessor – the 2020 Communications Trust – elected to focus on national projects and programmes. Trust Work

Wellington ICT (WICT) carries out Community ICT projects that meet the needs of specific communities of interest. A ‘community of interest’ for WICT is any group or oganisation based in the Wellington region which can demonstrate a real need.

Our successful record depends on organisations:

  • Working closely with us from the start.
  • Helping us define the need in detail.
  • Helping us secure the necessary funding.
  • Involving themselves in the critical project implementation stage.
  • Getting one or two community volunteersto to learn and look after the system.
  • Taking ownership of the system so that WICT can move on to other projects.
