Telehealth Support Needed

Researchers from the Department of Computer Science at the University of Auckland is working on a telehealth project in order to improve care given to the elderly in New Zealand.  A website has been developed to help elderly people improve their health.

We are looking for volunteers (male or female) aged 65 or above to participate in a study to obtain feedback from potential users on the use of the system. Prior experience with computers is NOT necessary. The pilot test session will last for approximately 2 hours and held sometime 1-4 May 2012.

We encourage active individuals meeting the above criteria to join as this is an opportunity for them  to improve their own health, do something good for the community and to contribute to enhancing the e-health in general.  You are interested to participate or seek additional info, please contact Noel Mendoza at  04 385 6213, 027 498 7590 or  director@wellingtonict.org.nz

Retake the Net Barcamp – 29 October, 2011

Date: Saturday, 29 October, 2011
Time: 10:00 – 16:00
Place: Wellington Town Hall, Wakefield Street

Retake the Net is an initiative for projects and actions related to keeping the internet free and open. (They are not a Wellington ICT initiative, but our goals are closely linked.) Their first barcamp will take place on 29th October.

The Retake the Net barcamp aims to bring together people who are interested in the topics such as internet freedom, digital identity, open culture, or privacy and anti-censorship. You don’t have to be an expert in any of these topics – we encourage anyone interested to come along, participate, and learn from each other. This informal, self organising day will consist of sessions and discussions and provides a great opportunity to meet, share, and work on concrete projects. Please note that this is a participant-driven, non-commercial event – no one will try and pitch you or try and sell you something.

Read more about the barcamp and register here.
