Wellington ICT AGM 2012

Date: September 25, 2012 - Category: Latest News From Wellington ICT

2012 has been another fruitful and productive year for Wellington ICT. We have seen the trust grow and develop into a dynamic organisation of eager staff and volunteers passionate about ICT and how it can be used to empower and build the capacities of Wellington region communities and community organisations.

The AGM was held at the Macarthy-Featherson room of the Wellington Club 20 September 2012. A small group of trustees, staff and partners came together to celebrate the end of a year and the beginning of another.

Heather Newell, WICT chairperson gave a moving message about the ethos of WICT and how that translates into improving the lives of Wellingtonians; giving folks a reason to get out of bed in the morning and having that confidence to participate in this highly digital world we live in. Mike Ennis, WICT treasurer followed with a short update on where the trust is financially.

Finances has always been a concern for the trust given that the government has ceased the Community Partnership Fund and local Councils are also finding it difficult to fund pilot community ICT projects. But despite these challenges, the Trust will continue to seek new and innovative ways to advance its mandate.

The AGM ended with a vote of thanks to WCC and all the Trust partners and acknowledgement of the contribution of trustees, staff and volunteers.
